Infant mortality was under control of simple and inexpensive techniques that health workers are introduced.
Chines traditional medicine and western medicine are both opted for treatment.

The medical condition under Great Leap Forward

In order to reestablish its legitimacy, the basic needs of people have to be paid with consideration.

Medical schools are reopened with new students.

The new, for profit nature of medical business reappeared with the economic reform.

Other diseases reappeared as well.

We must credit the government with tremendous achievements in the nation’s health care system during its earlier years, but few improvements in the past 10 years is done.

Demography, a situation of overpopulation issue

A large family, in the Chinese tradition was once considered as a sign of prosperity and happiness.

From Ming dynasty, China starts a fast population growth age.

The source of overpopulation:

The problem of overpopulation is not merely a family tradition, but also a misleading of Mao and his political manipulation. He believed that if the third world war happens, with the nuclear winter, may be more than half of Chinese population would die, yet with the other half, the Chinese communist would liberate the world.

In 1964, family planning office was established. Yet its purpose and efficacy was very limited.

Different kinds of techniques were used to control population growth.

- Coupons for ration are for only three children.

- Must receive the permission for the party in order married.

Yet, countryside was out of influence.

Post Culture revolution era

One child policy

It worked well in cities but not in rural side. As the result, controversial policies were implanted.
Is it belongs to the Human Right Issue? Or simply a necessary maneuver for the good development of P.R.C?

Consequences

Each year 13 millions people are added to the population each year. Employment for the future young generation became crucial, as well as for the retirement of baby bombers. So, social stability is jeopardized. In addition, since females are considered as inferior, hence there will be a large number of males who will not find a mate. What is the mental healthy issue for the little Emperors? Once again it is an unhealthy development, and its future consequences on China is unpredictable.
