Quality of Life Since 1949 in China

Medical isuue

After a long period of war, Chinese medical system was in its deepest level. When P.R.C was established, one of communist government’s priorities was to introduce a basic medical care system to the governed.

Founding

Program.

Peasant families often lived together in very close with their animals; hence, dilapidated animal shelters and manure pits were common sight in rural area. The "Patriotic public health campaign" and paramedic teams, which were send to countryside, were ideal tools to cure these maladies.

The medical condition under Great Leap Forward

It did little to improve the quality of medical care, and famines that followed the failure of G.L.F caused millions of death due to the government apparatus disorganization.

Mao believed that the medical care system was created only for only fifty percent of the population of the country. China has 500 million peasants; thus the focus of medical and public health work should be transferred to the villages.

Post Culture revolution

In order to reestablish its legitimacy, the basic needs of people have to be paid with consideration.

Other diseases reappeared as well.

AIDS

We must credit the government with tremendous achievements in the nation’s health care system during its earlier years, but few improvements in the past 10 years is done.

Demography, a situation of overpopulation issue

A large family, in the Chinese tradition was once considered as a sign of prosperity and happiness.

From Ming dynasty, China starts a fast population growth age.

The source of overpopulation:

- Coupons for ration are for only three children.

- Must receive the permission for the party in order married.

Yet, countryside was out of influence.

Post Culture revolution era

One child policy

Consequences

Each year 13 millions people are added to the population each year. Employment for the future young generation became crucial, as well as for the retirement of baby bombers. So, social stability is jeopardized. In addition, since females are considered as inferior, hence there will be a large number of males who will not find a mate. What is the mental healthy issue for the little Emperors? Once again it is an unhealthy development, and its future consequences on China is unpredictable.
